Scheduled Execution of Inmate Leroy McGill

PHOENIX—Pursuant to the Arizona Supreme Court’s Warrant of Execution issued on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry carried out the execution of inmate Leroy McGill, ADCRR #058962, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Inmate McGill was declared deceased at 10:26 AM. The process went according to plan and without incident.

Director Ryan Thornell was present for the execution.

The mode and manner of the death was by lethal injection.

In 2004, McGill was convicted of first-degree murder for the 2002 murder of Charles Perez, for which the trial court sentenced him to death. Upon appeal on October 21, 2021, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction.
